Recognition. Find sounds that sound good to YOU, as if it becomes some sort of sonic code for your expression of your understanding of humanity to the world. Your creations, your canvas, the only thing that should matter is what you make. Fuck whatever else anyone else is doing and stop giving a shit about not being a part of their experiences. Go create your own.

Good to hear from you man. I am still yet a n00b on this thing. But, I do totally agree. Throughout my whole life when I have not known what to do with myself I usually just throw myself completely into music. It is the only thing that has consistently given me any sort of purpose/pleasure/internal reward. Why that is, I don't know. But the sheer engagement of it all! Throwing yourself -- your mind, your body, your faculties -- wholly to the wind so that they may get in touch with a higher power and create. Creation. Or is it just dictation? Or discovery, or a shift in perspective. The temptation to wax philosophical is great. However, at the end of the day music is power. Sound is energy moving through air. Even the most die-hard empiricist would have to face such a fact and regard it as indubitably, physically, mathematically true. In fact, the cold rational skeptics dry analysis of music - waves of power through air - is almost stronger of a force than any philosopher who has extolled the intellectual virtues. If anything, it is a way to make intelligent vibrations using your fingers. I had long decided that I would try to throw myself more deeply down the music hole, but my present situation might be the final push needed to drive that point home to me. I just hope something comes of it, either internally or externally. Confusion can only be present if you care, and at the moment I don't.
