Yesterday night I went with Taylor to Aurora to pay Corey and Sarah a visit. It had been some months since the Halloween party...anyways, we met at his house (out in the middle of effing nowhere) and ate dinner at this bomb-ass sushi joint they like to go to. It was the best sushi I can remember having in a while: rolls were flavorfully mixed with combinations of fish, scallops, various kinds of roe and vegetables, the "kicker" roll was probably the "Heart Attack" role with shrimp tempura and tuna, and the "novelty" roll was the "Marilyn Mon" roll with some other ingredients that I forget now. We got ice cream afterwards, drove around, and then played cutthroat with his pool table while listening to some stand-up comedy in his basement for a while. There was a quick break midway for another trip to Taco Bell (I was fucking HUNGRY), and then I proceeded to win five more games in a row before Corey triumphantly won the last.
Today, the wind has been so high that it literally has been troublesome walking at times throughout the day. I could not even imagine riding my bike today. Apparently there were two fires in areas around Boulder sparked by downed transformers that caught some dry vegetation on fire. Pretty intense. I had my coffee/book/almond croissant fix at Roma, listened to music for a while at the radio station, practiced at the music school, and then worked out. Routine is the name of the break lately, but I feel okay with this sense of an intellectual pursuit, rather then some vacation out of town, for this time in Boulder. I really have felt accomplished socially and mentally these past weeks.
It feels like it should be so late right now, but I am ready to start my night pretty soon and go out for a drink with Jacqueline in hopefully a bit. Until then, here is to being mentally aware every day.
